We have been trained and certified to implant microchips
in dogs and cats, and we can do it at your home.
Once your pet has been microchipped, we’ll register their chip with the New Zealand Companion Animal Register.
If your pet is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they can scan the microchip to see the number – and you will then be contacted for the safe return of your beloved pet.
We recommend microchipping – and you don’t have to wait for it to be done at a busy vet clinic.
Call the microchip experts on 0800 228 366 or use our contact form.
Why should you microchip your dog or cat?
- Assists in re-homing lost animals
- Results in fewer animals being euthanized
- May decrease the number of animal thefts
- Gives owners peace of mind
From the New Zealand Herald:
- Padme, a black shorthair, was returned safely to her home 16 months after going missing – thanks to her microchip and up-to-date information in the New Zealand Companion Animal Register.
What is a microchip?
A pet microchip consists of a tiny tube (about the size of a grain of rice) that is inserted under the skin. The microchip is sealed in a sterile capsule, there is very little chance for infection or rejection. The process is a very quick and requires no anesthesia. The pet microchip contains only a number. Since the chip requires no power, it never needs replacing.
What are the rules?
DOGS: Auckland Council requires all dog owners to provide the microchip numbers of their dogs and this information will be available to any agency that finds your pet and scans the microchip.

CATS: Microchips for cats do not currently have to be registered with Auckland Council, but we strongly recommend registering them with the New Zealand Companion Animal Register – and we’ll take care of that for you when we implant a microchip in your cat or dog.
Please be sure to keep your contact information up to date in the Companion Animal Register.
